Frozen creek was inspired by hiking to Emerald Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. I loved the way the colors sparkled off of the snow and creek, creating a soft but glittering look. I saw this beautiful scene during the last stretch of our hike, and for the moment as I watched the water trickle past the ice and the ponderosa pines rustle in the wind- my aching legs didn’t hurt. Whenever I look back at this painting I’m reminded of the challenge and struggle of our long hike- but also of the restoration that frozen creek gave me.
